Song
By Lucinda Ramos

To feel the warmth of his hand
The smell of his skin
The strength of his embrace
The grief to lessen
Friend, encircle me so that I
may last through this ache?
For my heart pleads
Oh, Blanket of Night, comfort me,
So I may finally dream of him
His voice a whispered melody
The ballad of love I crave
For no other could compare
As I keep my eyes shut
To the world, I become unaware
And in my fantasy, my eyes gaze into his
Reflecting me with adoration
I muse, smiling at my choice
Whispering of his devotion
Night, my confidant,
will you keep him close?
Close to me as my prisoner
Comforting me in his arms
His song telling me to surrender
My advocate, don’t wake me to the day
Promise me that light is not your brother
For the sun is my enemy
Taking with it my love as
Brightness behind my eyes begins to filter
It shines it’s cruel light like a scoundrel
Not bothering to contemplate my rejections
My brain anguishes to retain his sweet cry
Obscured without my permission
Leaving me shocked by reality
That he is not with me
But only in my dreams
Humming the sweetest of melodies
